I can answer that we both fell in several lol.  BTW Someone left a deep target in one of the holes I finished digging it.  At least a foot more deep and I pulled out the bottom scag of someones lower unit on their boat motor

Just goes to show you no place gets cleaned out  The ocean is a big place & a ring is a pretty small target   99.9% luck & a good detector:)

I also found this

This purity is stamped in Europe and other parts of the world as '750'.

750 is actually 18K

Decimal equivalents of karat ratings:
.375 = 9K (England and Canada)

.417 = 10K
.500 = 12K
.583 (.585) = 14K
.625 = 15K

.667 = 16K
.750 = 18K
.833 = 20K (Asia)
.917 = 22K (Asia)
.999 (1000) = 24K pure gold

From the web page Diamond-ring.com

Ok, well I have a ring that is labeled " PLAT 750" this must be 75% platinum 25% alloy and REALLY REALLY HARD. WHy would they make such a hard ring? It was a hand made item with engraving, and cutouts with gold scrolls inside. Could it have something to do with the manufacturing process, or do you think it was just to make it cheaper?

All the white gold that I have is really shiny. This ring is a silver grey. I think that since plat 750 is very hard and 22K gold is soft they used it to beef up the ring
Who knows

Erikk      I realised what I wrote about half way to the beach this morning, don't know why I wrote 750 is 14kt I knew it was 18kt  Must have been a senior moment.  Glad you enlightened me about there being a 750 platinum. Know I will never know if it's white gold and marked 750

Erikk  Is it possible the Plat 750 might be  plat and 750 (18kt)  I have three 750 and plat 950 rings.  Just curious
